The archipelago
of two islands and more than 4,000 keys and islets, represent the largest country in the
Caribbean. Cuba, a favorite of artists, writers and socialites in the 1920's and 30's, is
reemerging as a diverse and exciting tourist destination. Its subtropical climate and
relative constant temperatures encourage full enjoyment of the spectacular beaches, scuba
diving and water sports. The landscape ranges from quiet, undulating plantations and
ranches, to rugged mountain terrain, of which the Sierra Maestra in the southeast is the
largest. The population of nearly 12 million is of Spanish and African descent. Their ready smiles and desire to please translate into a hospitality that is hard to duplicate. Proud of their heritage, their culture, their country, the Cuban people enhance the visitor's discovery of the nation, to create an experience that will be nothing less than memorable. The colonial history is evident in numerous large and small cities and towns. Both Havana and Santiago the Cuba have harbors guarded by fortresses that are architectural treasures. Cathedrals, churches, museums, cobblestone plazas, and buildings laced with intricate ironwork balconies, invite exploration. |
Cuba's diverse flora and fauna and its broad programs for sustained development of protected natural areas make it the ideal destination for ecotourism. One of the few remaining flamingo colonies and breading grounds in the world is carefully monitored in Cayo Coco by the Academy of Science. Interpretative hiking trails and biosphere reserves invite the nature enthusiast to observe endangered species like the manatee, Cuban parrot, blue headed quail dove and several reptiles. From caves with aboriginal stone carvings to secret beach coves and massive cliffs, Cuba's natural landscapes will delight the most discerning traveler.
PRELIMINARY PROPOSAL
FOR A HARLEY DAVIDSON TRIP THROUGH CUBA
As a private venture, the president of one of the Harley Clubs in Holland contacted ATP to plan and coordinate a biker trip through Cuba. A French film production team expressed an interest in the project, and is willing to sponsor their time and committed to airing of the project via French networks. The promotor approached the Cuban government which agreed to sponsor the trip within Cuba.
The Project
A group of 8 to 10 Harley Davidson enthusiasts will tour Cuba in approximately 12 days. An independent film production team will document the tour and produce one or more programs for television broadcast in Europe and North America. In addition, one or more photo journalists will participate in the tour for printed press publicity. The trip itinerary has been carefully selected to showcase Cuba's natural, cultural and historic beauty, and allows maximum interaction with its charming population. Trip participants are mature, professional people, which enhances the appeal for the viewing audiences of the film
ATP is actively seeking interested sponsors for this event.
The Exposure
This project is the first of its kind and therefore a prototype. Media interest has been expressed and is being negotiated on an ongoing basis. Based on the commitments on the part of the initial sponsors and participants, the exposure potential is already impressive:
- Cubanacan's participation guarantees extensive media coverage for the duration of the event, a major opportunity for sponsors who have a presence in Cuba and who will benefit from the domestic exposure.
- The filming of the event will initially generate one or more video productions, as dictated by air time commitments currently in negotiations with Dutch, Belgian and French networks. It is anticipated that one or more additional English productions will be made for wider distribution.
