The Event

The design of a Special Event is the focal point of a much larger promotional campaign that can extend the exposure benefits for several years. The Adventure Travel theme provides an ideal film and video platform, to be used as a series for TV air time or to be distributed as a consumer video. Additionally, film material can be used in advertising spots. The theme of the event can be enhanced with the selection of the mode of transportation used. Apart from the components used to create the event,

  • Unusual Destinations
  • Challenging Activities
  • Exciting Discoveries
  • Uncommon Transportation

The publicity campaign and exposure can be enhanced and extended where the event is presented as a

  • Contest
  • Competition

The Exposure

This type of event structuring allows for combined pre-event promotional activities designed to reach 500,000 to several million people, dependent on the promotional campaign design and budget committed. A program designed to attract contest winners or paying participants can lead the actual event by as much as six to nine months. Brochures, Posters, Press Releases, dedicated Articles and conventional Advertising, supplemented by a Website, are only some of the components that can provide sponsor exposure.

Adventure Travel appeals to active, educated, mid- to high-income individuals of all ages. While it is often perceived that it is the domain of the young, studies have shown that its components - A unique destination, exciting activities, adventure and discovery appeals equally to audiences in the age range of 30 to 65. The program can be designed to target the desired audience and pre-event promotions can generate as much as 25,000 - 100,000 inquiries.

While the filming of the activities and interaction will be the primary objective of the event, further exposure is provided to the sponsors though local magazine and TV coverage. Additional media interest will be solicited for coverage of the event across the full range of international communications channels, from daily newspapers to trade journals, general and special interest periodicals and television. One or more freelance photo journalists will be invited for printed press publicity. Sponsors can elect to include in the program, direct promotions through contributions in goods for prizes, or traditional ‘give-aways’ such as T-shirts or hats.

Post-event exposure can be long-term and impressive, although difficult to anticipate. Participating freelance photographers and journalists can continue to sell their photo essays for up to a year to eighteen months after the event. Independently, or as part of the sponsors’ program, the filmed material can be edited for a half-hour production for possible commercial use. Additional 3-5 minute edits can be generated for future events’ publicity and advertising spots. The possibilities are as endless as the imagination and the budget permit.

Projects under Development showcases a motorbike trip through Cuba, a proposal for a Special Event by a European private promoter. The project has several sponsor commitments and invites inquiries from companies interested in participating.
